Wedding Speeches and Toasts
Wedding Speeches
It is customary after the ceremony, during the reception, that the best-man, father/mother-of-the-bride, father/mother-of-the-groom, and others will stand up at some time to honor the newly wedded couple with a wedding speech.
While it is not necessary to write a wedding speech ahead of time, many persons in an honored position, such as the best-man, may want the speech to sound just right. Some may be very capable in writing their speeches. However, for those that aren't or may not have the time, you can buy wedding speeches, written by professional speakers. These speeches, for the Best Man, the Maid of Honor or the Father of the Bride and others are available from a source that knows their speeches.
If the bride and groom need ideas for their vows, see our article about Wedding Vows.
A Wedding Toast to Remember
Later in the reception, the MC or DJ will announce that all guests will join in the wedding toast. The toast is a special speech or silent appreciation, generally accompanied by the guests lifting flutes of champagne to the bride and groom - another way of sharing in the luck and prosperity of the newlywed couple.
For something really special to go along with your reception meal, you can order wines with custom labels that commemorate your wedding. In addition to being enjoyed by the wedding guests at your reception, the bride and groom can order a few extra bottles to have at home or to be given to members of the wedding party like the best man and maid of honor.
Note - You will of course need permission from your reception venue to provide your own alcohol.
