What to Give the Bride and Groom

If you will be attending a wedding you are probably thinking of what to give the couple. Sometimes they will indicate that they have a registry at a particular store. This allows guests and those that cannot attend the wedding to pick out gifts such as a place setting or linens in the style and color that the couple have already selected.

Since selection from the registry is not required or always desired, a guest may want to give something that he/she has personally selected that is meaningful to the couple. Or, perhaps a practical item that they may not buy for themselves. For example, they may really love a unique work of art to be appreciated for many years or a practical item such as a quality spice rack full of gourmet spices. In some cultures, it is customary to give money to the couple. If a guest is uncertain about giving cash, he should ask those close to the couple to see if this is appropriate for their wedding traditions.
