What to Give the Bride and Groom
If you will be attending a wedding you are probably thinking of what to give the couple. Sometimes they will indicate that they have a registry at a particular store. This allows guests and those that cannot attend the wedding to pick out gifts such as a place setting or linens in the style and color that the couple have already selected.
Since selection from the registry is not required or always desired, a guest may want to give something that he/she has personally selected that is meaningful to the couple. Or, perhaps a practical item that they may not buy for themselves. For example, they may really love a unique work of art to be appreciated for many years or a practical item such as a quality spice rack full of gourmet spices. If the bride and groom are the playful sort, you may want to give them something fun. We have some suggestions in our articles on unique gifts, food gift ideas, and fun gifts.
In some cultures, it is customary to give money to the couple. If a guest is uncertain about giving cash, he should ask those close to the couple to see if this is appropriate for their wedding traditions.
