Finger Food by Any Other Name, Still Requires no Fork
Ideas for Wedding Reception Finger Food
Whether called appetizers, tapas, hors d'oeuvres or finger food, the tasty morsels of food that are passed around by servers or placed on platters on your buffet, are often enough to serve for your entire meal, yet can be there to just whet the appetite for a main course. You should consider if want finger foods to preface your main reception meal or to be your main reception meal.
Consider that many of the popular bashes of the rich and famous are catered with elegant trays of finger foods, already in bite sized pieces and easy to eat while guests are standing and chatting with each other. A plated meal is not a necessity for your wedding either.
Years ago a favorite passed finger food was called "franks in blankets". These were delicious small hot dogs wrapped in a baked bread dough and optionally dipped in deli mustard. Now you have finger foods that circle the world in their variety. How about salmon croquettes or mini quiches or sushi? You can have chicken satay or sweet meatballs or a garden of vegetables on toothpicks. These are just some of the infinite possibilities.
Finger foods allow your event to be set as a cocktail party with all guests not requiring seats and place settings. Your reception can thus be a more free and easy event, allowing more guests to attend than would be possible at a seated reception, without a tremendous extra cost.
