Other Wedding Reception Games

In our introduction to Reception Games, we highlighted a few ideas to spice up your reception and unwind your guests at the same time. You don't need to buy a special game or hire a professional (aside from perhaps a DJ or MC) to have fun. Here are some more ideas for games that don't require a lot of set up.

Guess the Truth - The bride and groom are asked a number of personal questions before the reception. The MC or someone in the wedding party makes up multiple choice answers for each question including the correct answer. Guests are asked the questions and by a show of hands we get the popular answers and compare them to the actual answers.

Pass the Buck - Someone at each table donates a $1 for this game. When the music starts, the dollar is passed around the table. When the music stops the guest holding the $1 is "out". The $1 is given to another guest who is still "in" and the music resumes. We continue till one person is left. They win the centerpiece.

Chicken Dance - Before the reception, put numbered slips of paper under each guest chair in such a fashion as to have each number show up twice at the reception. For example, if there are 80 guests, then you'll have 2 sets of the numbers 1-40. Tape the first set under 40 chairs at one set of tables. Tape the second set under 40 chairs at a different set of tables. The goal is to have each pair of numbers be from totally different tables. Now you couple the guests with the 1's and 2's and 3's and so on. Let's do the chicken dance!
