Michigan Wedding Location Ideas

There are so many options for your wedding in Michigan with each region having its own special allure. Let's cover some areas from Detroit on the south, Silver Lake in the central region and the Upper Peninsula on the north.

Detroit and its surroundings will have many types of wedding venues such as historic full service hotels. These hotels can often provide full services for your wedding reception as well as overnight lodging for your guests. You can also have your wedding on a picturesque brick patio overlooking the Detroit River and the city skyline. There are historic victorian inns, the Detroit Club - steeped in local history, plus trendy upscale restaurants with fine catering for any banquet.

Moving west, at Wellers, Inc., in Saline near Ann Arbor, you'll find a refurbished Henry Ford factory offering a variety of unique indoor event rooms for a country wedding. Here, you can even time your wedding ceremony to occur during a full moon. To the north, the Cooley Gardens in Lansing is perfect for an outdoor garden wedding. If you are thinking small, consider an intimate wedding at a B&B in the Heritage Hill Historic District of Grand Rapids, not far west of Lansing.

North from Grand Rapids we find Silver Lake, very near the eastern shore of Lake Michigan. In the Silver Lake area you can have a beach wedding ceremony on Lake Michigan while you and your guests take in a brilliant sunset. This area has it all - vineyards, wineries, sand dunes. Even if you don't have the ceremony at the beach, this is a place for excellent romantic photos. A B&B minutes from Silver Lake offers wedding and elopement packages.

In Northern Michigan, before crossing to the Upper Peninsula, you can have an elegant wedding in a romantic Victorian Inn or be at a waterfront property on Sutton's Bay, minutes from wineries of the Leelanau Peninsula. Then, crossing to the U.P., Castle Farms, in Charlevoix, is a magnificent french renaissance castle that will make you and your guests feel like royalty. The U.P. also has the natural setting of woods, lakes and waterfalls for a more rustic setting for your wedding.

For your destination wedding, we recommend that you work with a wedding coordinator, familiar with the specific region of the state, to help you arrange for your worry free Michigan wedding.
